What Huawei is going to offer to the Armenian market

It's about energy storage technologies

Armenia is preparing to develop the electricity storage systems market and is already discussing cooperation with international companies, including Huawei.

The government has approved a package of amendments to relevant laws, which introduces licensing of energy storage activities and forms a new segment of the energy market.

According to the initiative, licenses will be issued by the regulator, and their owners will be able not only to store electricity, but also to participate in wholesale trading - buying and selling it according to market rules. At the same time, installations with a capacity of up to 1 MW will not be subject to mandatory licensing, as well as larger systems, if they are used exclusively for their own needs.

At the same time, negotiations are underway with Huawei, whose representatives have already presented BESS solutions used in the EU and Baltic countries. Such systems allow smoothing the load on the network and effectively integrating solar generation. The authorities expect that the introduction of storage devices will increase the stability of the power system and accelerate the transition to a more flexible power supply model.
