288,000 Jobs in 7 Years: Pashinyan Reveals How the Labor Market is Changing in Armenia

Authorities are betting on employment growth, economic modernization, and social policy reform

Since 2018, 288,000 jobs have been created in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting with the country's largest employers. He emphasized that the main contribution to this result was made by business, and the task of the state is to create conditions for employment growth. The authorities also intend to maintain the pace, focusing on a figure of at least 25,000 new jobs annually.

According to the Prime Minister, in recent years the government has allocated significant funds to modernize the economy, which has helped to ensure an average growth of about 7% even taking into account the pandemic and military events of 2020. Among the priorities are the development of production renewal programs and increasing the efficiency of the economy.

Special attention is paid to social policy: a universal health insurance system is being introduced, and employment incentives are being strengthened. The authorities plan to more actively involve citizens in the labor market by offering specific vacancies, while education and its transformation are assigned a key role in the long term.
