Armenia to enter the top 5 countries in the world in terms of the number of GPUs

NVIDIA Vice President stated that the country is capable of sharply strengthening its position in the field of artificial intelligence due to computing power

At the AI Conf Armenia 2026 conference at Yerevan State University, NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredian stated that Armenia could potentially be among the top five countries in the world in terms of the number of GPUs. According to him, this will create a solid foundation for the development of artificial intelligence and technological infrastructure, and the very fact of such growth looks unexpectedly ambitious for a small country.

Lebaredian emphasized that the main resource of the state remains human intelligence. It is the "brains", in his estimation, that should become the basis of the development strategy, and not external assistance. He noted that Armenia is capable of ceasing to be perceived as a dependent economy and taking an active role in the global technological system thanks to its own specialists and their potential.

He also pointed to the country's geographical location as a possible advantage: the historical bridge between East and West could turn into a channel for the exchange of knowledge and technology. The forum focused on scaling GPU infrastructure and developing the AI ecosystem, and among the participants were researchers, startups, and companies like Krisp and YerevaNN, discussing accelerating the country's technological growth.
