VTB (Armenia) strengthens payment infrastructure ahead of growing tourist flow from Russia

The bank is expanding its POS network and introducing online payments with support for Mir cards

VTB (Armenia) announced the expansion of its acquiring infrastructure ahead of the tourist season. The bank is increasing the number of POS terminals and developing digital payment solutions to make payments for the country's visitors faster and more convenient, including online services and payments at retail locations.

A special emphasis is placed on tourists from Russia: VTB (Armenia) remains the only bank on the local market that accepts cards of the Mir payment system. This makes it possible to pay for goods and services at hotels, restaurants, shops, and medical institutions without cash, as well as withdraw money through POS terminals at the bank's branches.

Over the past year, the terminal network grew by 76%, while internet acquiring increased by more than 117%. The bank is developing online payments through website forms and payment-by-link options, which simplifies service bookings and expands business opportunities. According to a bank representative, acquiring is becoming a key tool for servicing the growing tourist flow, which has already exceeded 2 million people per year, a significant share of whom are citizens of Russia.
