The construction of the 11th station of the Yerevan Metro, "Ajapnyak," has been estimated at 107.3 billion drams, which is equivalent to approximately $287.4 million. These figures were presented by Yerevan mayoral adviser Anetta Babayan, who noted that the investment project has already received a positive conclusion from the Ministry of Finance of Armenia.
According to the calculations, the project's internal rate of return stands at 15.3%. Procedures are now being prepared to move to the tender stage, and a package of decisions is also being assembled to approve the specifics of procurement. City authorities state that the project is of priority importance for the development of the capital's transport system.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that the implementation of the "Ajapnyak" station is a key task for the mayor's office and instructed that the progress of the work be monitored weekly. At the same time, the cost of the project has risen significantly: back in 2022, it was estimated at approximately $50 million. The timeline has also been postponed repeatedly — construction is now expected to begin no earlier than 2026.
