Armenia has approved in the first reading amendments to the legislation on state support for the high-tech sector. This concerns adjusting the mechanism of assistance for IT specialists and labor migrants working in local companies.
Initially, from 2026, it was planned to transfer support directly to migrant workers, but in practice, technical difficulties arose with registration and payments. Therefore, the authorities decided to maintain a more familiar model – providing benefits through employers, i.e., IT companies.
According to parliamentary representatives, the updated approach will not create an additional tax burden for businesses and may even strengthen the level of support for the industry. Thus, the state aims to maintain the attractiveness of the IT sector and simplify the administration of incentive programs.
