Armenia is preparing a large-scale tightening of online casino regulations. The Parliament has approved in the first reading a package of amendments that introduces a mechanism for voluntary blocking of access to gambling platforms for a period of 5 years, without the possibility of early removal.
One of the key elements will be a self-exclusion button that users can activate in online casino applications and websites. After this, participation in gambling will be completely unavailable to them for the specified period.
Additionally, it is proposed to restrict access to online games for recipients of social benefits, pensioners, bankrupts, and participants in certain state support programs. According to deputies, the volume of bets in the country has increased from 0.2 trillion to 7.4 trillion drams over 8 years. The new rules are planned to be introduced from January 1, 2027.
