The program for the construction of the Syunik Customs and Logistics Center has officially started in Armenia. The relevant agreement was signed by the State Revenue Committee of Armenia and the Italian company IRD Engineering.
The total project budget is 14.4 million euros, with funding provided through credit and grant funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, co-financed by the country's government.
The project is considered one of the key elements in the development of transport infrastructure in southern Armenia. According to the head of the SRC, Eduard Hakobyan, the center will be an important step in transforming the country into a regional logistics hub and fits into the government's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative.
Construction is planned to begin in 2027 near the Shaki community, close to the North-South highway corridor. The center will operate on a "single window" principle, allowing cargo transportation and customs procedures to be processed in one place. The project includes X-ray scanners, inspection zones, truck parking, administrative infrastructure, and digital management systems. Energy-efficient solutions and green areas are also planned, and the facility itself may receive LEED certification as an environmentally sustainable structure.
