Construction has begun on the first Emarat brand filling station in Yerevan. The project is being implemented as part of an agreement between MegaTrade, a SIL Capital company, and the UAE state energy corporation, signed last autumn.
The parties intend to create a network of Emarat filling stations throughout Armenia. In the first phase, approximately 35 filling stations are planned to open under a franchise model. The total investment is estimated at 35–40 million dollars, and each new station is expected to create 20–22 jobs.
The project is considered one of the largest steps towards modernizing Armenia's fuel market. The cooperation plans to introduce international standards for fuel quality, safety, and customer service, which Emarat uses in the Middle Eastern markets.
