The Head of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan, stated that stablecoins pegged to the Armenian dram could significantly reduce the cost of cross-border transfers and simplify domestic settlements. According to him, the development of such instruments is a "correct and important direction" for the country's financial sector.

The regulator emphasized that the gradual integration of crypto assets into the traditional financial system is not considered an increased risk. In its strategy for the coming years, the Central Bank plans to actively develop this area, while simultaneously forming a regulatory framework and control mechanisms.

It is also noted that Armenia already has a law "On Crypto Assets", which came into force in the summer of 2025. It regulates the digital asset market, establishes operating rules for companies, and aims to increase transparency and user protection while fostering innovation.
