Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that Armenia may face a difficult situation with natural gas supplies if pricing conditions change. According to him, the country has historically depended on Russian fuel, and there are no alternative sources of supply in the foreseeable future.

Overchuk noted that the issue is not the availability of gas, but the mechanism of its supply and intermediary payment schemes. He emphasized that when switching to a market price, taking into account export duties and additional costs from intermediaries, the cost of energy resources for Armenia could significantly increase, which would create economic difficulties.

He also pointed out that Russia continues to supply gas to Europe, and, according to him, geographical and infrastructural logic indicates the preservation of this dependence in the future. Earlier, Russian representatives warned of possible consequences of changing energy agreements, including the impact on Armenia's economy and potential GDP losses in case of a revision of supply conditions.
