Yerevan authorities plan to make key decisions on the further development of public transport and the expansion of the capital's transport infrastructure before autumn. This was announced by Mayor Tigran Avinyan at a working meeting at the City Hall.
According to him, the possibility of expanding the trolleybus network and clarifying the future model of the transport system is being considered. Currently, previously collected data is being analyzed, on the basis of which the optimal route structure and the need for additional rolling stock will be determined.
Special attention is paid to the creation of dedicated lanes for trolleybuses. Before autumn, it is planned to approve two main traffic schemes, apply road markings, and partially prepare the infrastructure. Preliminary routes have already been formed, but final decisions will be made after additional discussions.
City authorities state that the goal of the changes is to make public transport more convenient and competitive compared to private cars, reducing the traffic load on the streets and increasing the attractiveness of public transport trips.
