The Yerevan Council of Elders is discussing the creation of a Traffic Management Center, which is expected to change the approach to traffic organization in the capital. According to Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan, the main task will be to make more active use of digital data when making decisions in the field of road traffic and public transport.

To this end, a unified environment has already been prepared where data from various urban digital systems will be collected. In addition, Yerevan plans to install cameras to count traffic flows at different hours and months of the year. The inventory of the city's entire traffic light infrastructure is also almost complete. The creation of parking lots at the entrances to the capital is being discussed separately.

The Center should also become a platform for the implementation of "smart" transport technologies: managing overall flows, dispatching public transport, intelligent traffic light regulation, and comprehensive traffic accounting. It is assumed that part of the functions of "Yerevantrans", which is planned to be liquidated, may be transferred to the new structure.
