Armenia is considering the possibility of exporting electricity to Turkey

Armenia and Turkey accelerate rapprochement: energy, railways and new logistics of the region

Yerevan and Ankara are moving from cautious statements to practical work on economic normalization, discussing joint energy and transport projects. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan announced that the country is studying the possibility of exporting surplus electricity to Turkey, and also notes the completion of the main bureaucratic preparations for launching direct trade between the two states.

In parallel, the parties continue technical consultations on infrastructure: among the key areas are the restoration of the Kars-Gyumri railway, the repair of the Margara bridge and the reconstruction of the historic Ani bridge. According to Kostanyan, preparations for opening the border for citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports have also been completed, but the practical implementation of this step has not yet begun.

Separately, the diplomat emphasized that the development of ties in the South Caucasus region and with Turkey can significantly affect global supply routes. He also noted Armenia's active dialogue with the EU and the adoption of a law on the start of the European integration process, while Yerevan does not consider this a step against Russia. In relations with Azerbaijan, according to him, progress is being made: the border commissions continue their work and deliveries of certain types of fuel are already underway.
