Armenia is preparing digital restrictions for teenagers: social networks may become unavailable until the age of 16

The initiative to regulate minors' access to platforms will be put up for public discussion with the participation of the relevant ministry.

A project is being discussed in Armenia that proposes restricting access to social networks for users under 16 years of age. The presentation of the initiative is scheduled for May 15 within the framework of a meeting of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the country. Minister Zhanna Andreasyan will deliver the opening speech, and her deputy Araksia Svajyan will present the details of the project.

The document is considered part of a broader policy to protect children in the digital environment and strengthen control over online content. The authorities emphasize that the discussion will take place in the format of a dialogue with experts and public organizations to assess possible consequences and implementation mechanisms.

In parallel, the initiative fits into the general trend of regulating the digital space, where states are increasing attention to the impact of social networks on teenagers. Final decisions have not yet been made, but the discussion is already generating interest among experts and parents who expect clearer rules for digital security.
