The construction of the Vedi reservoir in the Ararat region has been completed in Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the facility, the government press service reported.

The total volume of the reservoir is 29 million cubic meters, and the project cost is estimated at 90 million euros. The facility is located on the right bank of the Vedi River and has already begun partial water accumulation: at the first stage, 1.6 million cubic meters were pumped into it from the Vedi and Khosrov rivers through a pipeline system.

The reservoir is expected to provide stable irrigation for about 3,220 hectares of agricultural land in 11 settlements of the Ararat Valley.

It is separately noted that the transition to a gravity irrigation system will save up to 19 million kWh of electricity annually, and losses in the irrigation network will decrease by 20–25%.

The project was implemented with joint funding from the Government of Armenia and the French Development Agency.
