Armenian cableway "Wings of Tatev" recognized as the best in the world

The unique road in Syunik received the tourist "Oscar" for the fourth time

The "Wings of Tatev" cableway has once again been recognized as the best in the world: the project has won the prestigious international World Travel Awards for the fourth time, winning in the category "World's Leading Cable Car Ride". The Armenian route outperformed competitors from Brazil, Bolivia, Vietnam, Canada, the USA, South Africa and New Zealand.

The results of the voting were announced in Bahrain at the awards ceremony. Previously, "Wings of Tatev" had already won this nomination - in 2024, 2023 and 2021. In 2025, the cableway turned 15 years old, and it has long become a hallmark of Armenian tourism. Since its opening, the route has breathed new life into the Syunik region, turning it into a point of attraction for travelers. The tourist flow to the region has increased 17 times in 15 years, and today every fifth tourist in Armenia comes here.

Built as part of the "Revival of Tatev" program on the initiative of Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend, "Wings of Tatev" is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest reversible cable car - its length is 5752 meters. The project has become an important part of preserving cultural heritage: all income is directed to the restoration of the Tatev Monastery and the development of the Tatev community.

The World Travel Awards are called the "tourism Oscar" - they celebrate the most outstanding initiatives in the travel and hospitality industry, awarding projects that demonstrate a high level of service, innovation and contribution to the development of the destination.
