"Trump Route" without Russian Railways: Armenia is building a new railway

43 km in the south of the country will be transferred to a separate company, not the current operator

A new 43 km long railway, which is planned to be built in southern Armenia as part of the TRIPP project, will not be transferred to the balance sheet of the South Caucasus Railway. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations, Sarkis Khandanyan, commenting on the parameters of the future infrastructure project.

According to him, the entire existing railway network of the country is currently on the balance sheet of the SCR, but the new section will be an exception. The line, known as part of the so-called "Trump Route", will belong to a separate structure — the TRIPP company, which is planned to be created specifically for the implementation of the project.

Thus, the new road will receive an independent status and will not be included in the current management system of the railway infrastructure of Armenia. This decision may simplify attracting investment, speed up construction and set a new format for managing key transport corridors in the south of the country.
