Armenia Loses Former Export Record, But New Markets Save the Situation

Decline in Supplies to the UAE and China is Offset by Export Growth to Europe and Iraq

In the 11 months of 2025, exports from Armenia amounted to $7.35 billion, which is significantly lower than last year's $12.31 billion. The main reason for the decline was a sharp drop in re-export operations, which previously accounted for most of the foreign trade.

The largest decline was recorded in the directions of the UAE (-66%) and China (-38%), which is associated with a decrease in the turnover of precious metals and stones, as well as a change in logistics and trade schemes that formed record figures in 2022–2024.

At the same time, a number of markets are showing growth. Exports to Germany increased by 74%, to Switzerland and Belarus — by more than 40%, and to Iraq — by 36%. The increase in supplies is provided by industrial, agricultural and processed products. In general, the country is gradually moving from a re-export model to a more stable structure of foreign trade.
