Armenia is preparing tough measures against gambling addiction: the government has approved a bill by MP Hayk Sargsyan, which obliges online casinos to introduce a "self-blocking" function. It is assumed that the user will be able to close their account at any time with one click and deprive themselves of access to bets.
The document also introduces social restrictions. In particular, it is proposed to prohibit pensioners without additional income, as well as citizens receiving social benefits, from participating in gambling. In this way, the authorities hope to protect the most vulnerable segments of the population from financial risks.
Another key measure is the limit on losses. According to the initiative, users will not be able to spend more than 20% of their official income on bets. The bill has to go through four readings in parliament, but its author expects that the new rules could come into force before the beginning of summer.
