The Armenian government is discussing the possibility of introducing age restrictions on the use of social networks by minors. This was stated by Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed to the opposition to form a working group to discuss the ban on anonymous accounts and prepare relevant legislation. Khandanyan called the initiative positive and noted that a possible restriction of minors' access to social networks could also be useful.

At the same time, the deputy doubted the effectiveness of the future law. According to him, pre-election investigations showed that the services of the so-called "fake factories", which, as claimed, are actively used by the opposition, are provided outside Armenia.

As a result, national restrictions may not affect some of these activities, as the associated accounts and infrastructure are outside the country's jurisdiction.

Thus, the Armenian authorities are simultaneously considering several directions for regulating social networks – from age restrictions for minors to a possible ban on anonymous accounts. However, the question of the practical effectiveness of such measures remains open.
