Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia is exploring the possibility of purchasing electricity from various countries, including Azerbaijan. The issue was discussed after a recent meeting of energy officials from the two countries.

According to Pashinyan, the need for imports may arise given the growing demand for electricity, including due to investments in artificial intelligence-related projects. Armenia is holding similar negotiations with Georgia, Iran and Turkey.

On August 25, in Lachin, representatives of the energy departments of Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed possible electricity supplies to both sides and the connection of the energy systems of the two countries. In parallel, with the support of the EU, a conversion station is being built on the Armenian-Georgian border, which should simplify the import and export of electricity.
