Meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Development Held Under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Pashinyan

The meeting presented the results of previous work and plans for the development of the high-tech sector in Armenia

The fourth meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Development under the Head of the Government of Armenia was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Prime Minister's Office reported that the meeting presented a report on the work done following the previous meeting and discussed key initiatives in the scientific and technological field.

Development of the Armenian Innovation Fund

The Director of the Armenian Innovation Fund, Anahit Sargsyan, presented data on the formation of the fund's structure, its priorities, and current programs. It was noted that organizational and legal work has been carried out to form the fund's council and the strategy for the development of science and technology has been studied. The preparation of procedures for monitoring and reporting on projects is ongoing.

Details of the initiatives under consideration, the mission of the fund, and the work on creating a strategic partnership between the state, industry, and the scientific community were presented. Long-term programs are being formed in five priority areas: robotics and aerospace industry, quantum technologies, semiconductors and microelectronics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and life science.

Export of Technologies and Development of the Ecosystem

President of Synopsys Armenia, Yervand Zoryan, reported on the work to develop mechanisms for the export of technologies. He presented approaches aimed at strengthening the technological ecosystem of Armenia and announced the preparation of export control procedures.

Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Ruben Simonyan presented the progress in the development of a strategic plan for the development of the high-tech sector. The plan includes an analysis of the current state of the industry, a study of global trends, the formation of a development model, the definition of strategic goals, and the preparation of initiatives with a subsequent action plan. The project is currently undergoing a validation stage with the participation of leading international scientists and experts, which should ensure confidence in the methodology and comparability of results.

Outcomes of the Meeting

After discussing the reports, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the creation of the Armenian Innovation Fund is an important practical result of the council's work. He emphasized the priority importance of high technologies for the development of the country and pointed out that a platform has been formed for cooperation between the state and the private sector, where initiatives and proposals can be translated into concrete programs.

The Prime Minister added: "It is very important that such constructive cooperation is established with various structures working in this field and that we receive the expected synergy."
