China Southern Airlines is considering opening direct flights between Yerevan and Shanghai after launching the Yerevan – Urumqi route. This was stated by Sergey Avanesov, Chairman of the Foundation for Regional Development of Armenian-Chinese Relations.

According to him, the expansion of air travel has already significantly increased the interest of Chinese tourists in Armenia. In 2025, about 35,000 Chinese citizens visited the country, and in 2026, this figure is expected to grow to approximately 100,000 people. In this case, China could rank second among countries by the number of tourists, after Russia.

In parallel, the Foundation is developing cooperation with large Chinese logistics companies. According to Avanesov, Armenian goods can be delivered to China at affordable prices in approximately two weeks. In addition to aviation, railway delivery via Chengdu, where a large international railway hub is located, is being considered.

Infrastructure for storing and distributing Armenian products in China has already been prepared, but the Foundation expects additional government support.

Avanesov also noted the possibility of accelerating the certification of Armenian goods for the Chinese market. According to him, the standard procedure takes about three months, but with the interaction of customs services, it can be reduced to about a week.
