Armenian authorities have for the first time enshrined the development of national space capabilities as a separate strategic goal. During 2026–2031, the country plans to acquire and put into operation at least three satellites: two for Earth observation and one telecommunications satellite.

At the same time, Armenia intends to create its own ground-based space infrastructure, as well as train specialists and technologies for satellite control and processing of received data.

Satellite capabilities are planned to be used not only by state structures. The government intends to provide access to data and satellite communication services for scientific organizations and private businesses.

In addition, the authorities are going to create conditions for launching ultra-high-speed satellite broadband Internet in Armenia. It should complement terrestrial fiber-optic networks and 5G infrastructure.
