Starting in 2027, the Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Armenia may provide researchers, startups, and students with access to the Firebird AI computing resource. This was announced at the presentation of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry's 2025 report to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Participants will be able to apply and, with the support of subsidies, use the supercomputer and other international platforms for scientific work and product development.
The institute was created in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the European company Mistral AI. The platform brings together technology companies, researchers, and innovators, providing support at all stages of scientific research and technology implementation. It is expected to become a tool for the development of AI in Armenia and the training of a new generation of specialists.
During the presentation, plans for cooperation with Firebird AI were announced. The company intends to invest approximately $500 million in the creation of a large artificial intelligence data center in Armenia, which will significantly expand the country's computing capabilities and attract international projects in the field of high technology.
