The Armenian authorities have for the first time enshrined the development of national space capabilities as a separate strategic goal. Between 2026 and 2031, the country plans to acquire and put into operation at least three satellites: two for Earth observation and one telecommunications satellite.

At the same time, Armenia intends to create its own ground-based space infrastructure, as well as train specialists and develop technologies for satellite control and data processing.

Satellite capabilities are planned to be used not only by government agencies. The government intends to provide access to data and satellite communication services for scientific organizations and private businesses.

In addition, the authorities are going to create conditions for the launch of ultra-high-speed satellite broadband internet in Armenia. It should complement terrestrial fiber optic networks and 5G infrastructure.
