Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed the possibility of mutual import and export of electricity, as well as connecting the energy systems of the two countries. A working meeting of representatives of relevant departments took place on August 25 in the city of Lachin.

The Armenian side was represented by employees of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and the "Electric Power System Operator" company. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and "Azerenergy" company participated in the negotiations from Azerbaijan.

The parties focused on potential electricity supplies in both directions. Technical options for connecting the energy infrastructure of Armenia and Azerbaijan directly at the state border were also discussed.

Creating such a connection could open up the possibility for future electricity exchange between the two countries and become part of a broader regional energy infrastructure.
